Violence against and even the murder of trans women is a flat out epidemic. And Naomi Hersi is its latest victim. Found with knife injuries near Heathrow Airport, the 36-year-old, who lived in Mill Hill, north London, was pronounced dead on the scene 30 minutes after police arrived. On Facebook, she was described as a “tennis lover, music junkie, film and tv addict”.

Chillingly enough, Hersi’s last post on Facebook was a link to a Vice article titled “Trans Women of Color Face an Epidemic of Violence and Murder”. According to reports, Hersi was of Somani origins and she had spent time in the U.S. as well. One neighbor said, “She was fun to be around and a real character. She was into music and tennis. She was a nice person.
