spike lee in talks for his first superhero film, ‘nightwatch’
Director Spike Lee is staying quite busy with the production of season 2 of Netflix’s ‘She’s Gotta Have it’, the recently released ‘Pass Over’ and ‘Black Klansman’ slated for later this year and he’s getting even busier with the speculation that he might direct a Marvel superhero flick. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee is currently in talks to direct a film based on Marvel superhero Nightwatch. A movie that already has the potential to be written by Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, the story would center around the Dr. Kevin Trench, a black superhero who joined the Marvel Universe in 1993. The daytime alter-ego of Nightwatch, Dr. Trench is “a man who discovered his own corpse wearing a futuristic suit of armor that he went on to steal and wear while fighting crime and trying to discover the origins of his alternate self and his new costume.”
Nightwatch exists in the shared Spider-Man universe and its one of the stable Marvel proprieties owned by Sony.
