ava duvernay to helm dc superhero flick “the new gods”
The DC cinematic universe was anointed today with the announcement of Ava DuVernay’s directorial role in film version of DC Comics’ “The New Gods”. Created and designed in 1971 by Jack Kirby, “The New Gods” are natives of twin planets: New Genesis (an idyllic planet ruled by Highfather) and Apokolips (a dystopian machinery and fire pit planet ruled by the tyrannical Darkseid). As gods, the two rules step outside of time and space in the Fourth World. Six “New Gods” series have run following the original with the most recent, “The New 52”, in 2011.
Gosh, that's hard. Big Barda. Many reasons. #askava https://t.co/3qxGDq7mHe
