One thing is clear: we’re in the middle of a revolution to disrupt the white cishetero patriarchy. It’s no surprise then that so many of the dopest songs featured last month were by queer women of color. From the defiance of Leikeli47 and Shea Diamond to the self-love of artists like Amare Symoné and Janelle Monáe, this is a crop of songs ready to smash the patriarchy with an 808. Heeding Janelle Monáe’s call, we present our latest Mixtape: We Gon’ Start a Pussy Riot.
