“You Next” is an intimate and ongoing photography series aimed at exploring the ways in which black barbershops integrate themselves into our communities as beacons of wellness and identity. The completed project will feature exclusive looks into barbershops in 12 American cities, documenting their meaning to locals, the relationships had between barbers and their customer, and the unexamined history of one of the nation’s longest-held cultural institutions. The completed project will become available to the public in exhibition form, as well as in the form of a published photography book.
