When it seems so many other artists are begging to be represented in front of mainstream audiences, Ghanaian illustrator El Carna offers another vision of what art can do and be. El Carna’s work centers around everyday representations of Black and African people, and their expressions of love among each other. It’s not something that is immediately recognizable to mainstream audiences here, but it is something that we need more of.
