r.i.p. dj pam the funkstress of the coup, prince’s personal dj
Condolences to the family of Bay Area legend and former member of hip-hop duo The Coup, Pam the Funkstress who died at age 51 last week. As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, Pam, who suffered from organ failure was hospitalized for the past month after organ transplant surgery leading up to her death.
Back in 2016, Pam served as Prince’s personal DJ leading up to his own death. Prince referred to her as “Purple Pam”.
Pam contributed to 1994’s ‘Genocide & Juice’, 1998’s ‘Steal This Album’, and other projects.
