‘no homo | no hetero’ documentary exposes the reality of sexual fluidity among black men

It’s long been scientifically recognized that sexuality is on a spectrum, but that doesn’t mean that everyone gets to realize their fluidity. In a white supremacist, patriarchal world, Black men are often expected and violently forced to assimilate into hyper-masculine ideals, tortuously constricting themselves and those around them in the process.

Even still, plenty of bi and queer men of color manage to live and even thrive, despite the struggles they face. These stories are important, and now BiUs Entertainment (BiUS) and the Center for Culture, Sexuality, and Spirituality (CCSS) are joining forces to produce a historic documentary about them. Co-directed by David Cork, co-founder and chief creative officer of BiUS, and Dr. H. Sharif “Herukhuti” Williams, founder and chief erotics officer of CCSS, the team is now raising funds to bring No Homo | No Hetero: Sexual Fluidity and Manhood in Black America to life.

“No Homo | No Hetero will explore the complexities, challenges, and beauty of being Black, bisexual and male in the United States,” the filmmakers explain. “Through interviews, performance art, and archival footage, the feature-length, experimental docu-poem invites the audience to explore the politics of living and loving authentically at the contentious intersection of racism, biphobia, and toxic masculinity.”

Premiering the crowdfunding campaign to thunderous support, an indication of the widespread yearning for an overdue project such as this, they have already raised over $26,000 for the next phase of production—which will include filming bisexual men, their partners, and bisexual experts in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York City.
