dope black voice actors who brought your childhood to life: khary payton
We’ve explored how Phil LaMarr, Cree Summer, Kevin Michael Richardson, James Avery and Keith David were the voices behind some of our favorite childhood memories, and we continue our series on Black voice actors with Khary Payton, whose film, TV and video game credits put him all over the map of our young imaginations!
Khary Payton is perhaps best known for his role voicing the DC comics character Cyborg across various films, cartoons, and video games. His live action credits include General Hospital and The Walking Dead.
Payton has portrayed Cyborg in the Teen Titans animated series, and Aqualad in Young Justice, the villain Ten in the cartoon series Justice League, Drebin in the game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Ripcord in G.I. Joe: Renegades, Blade in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Grimlock in Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Killer Croc in Batman: Arkham Underworld. He is currently voicing Wasabi on the Disney XD original series Big Hero 6 based on the Marvel Comics by Man of Action and the film of the same name by Don Hall and Chris Williams. What a resume!
