erykah badu takes a knee during soul train awards
While hosting the Soul Train Music Awards last night in L.A., Erykah Badu took a moment to honor the protest started by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Appearing on stage just before the live-wire performance by Lady of Soul Award honorees SWV, Badu took a knee and shared a few words of gratitude for the activist/athlete’s resistance. “I know I usually do a big elaborate musical number, but right here I feel I need to this. This is for Kap,” the beloved artist said, taking a knee.”Kap we appreciate you giving your life. Giving up your dream because you believe in us.”
