acclaimed visual artist & craftswoman xenobia bailey starts residency at the museum of arts and design
This Fall, at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, the work of acclaimed artist Xenobia Bailey will be exhibited in Studio Views: Craft in the Expanded Field. Part of her 8-week micro-residency at the museum, the interdisciplinary exhibition is an immersive showing of the artist’s large-scale community-driven installations that push the boundaries of traditional craft. Also known for her eccentric crocheted hats, mandalas, and concentric circles and repeating patterns, Bailey’s work takes influence from African, Black American, Asian, and indigenous folk art and the disappearing traditions shared between these overlapping communities.
Xenobia Bailey every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday during Cycle 2 of Studio Views, now to December 17.
