man arrested for threatening to kill “n*ggers” at howard university

A pimple-faced sex offender, John Edgar Rust, was arrested this week after a 2015 death threat/mass violence warning posted on message boards 4chan and Reddit were linked to the 26-year-old:

“Any n—–s left at Howard University after 10 tomorrow will be the
first to go . . .After all, it’s not murder if they’re black.”

As a registered sex offender who was convicted of aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child by a custodian in Loudoun County in 2012, Rust is barred from using the internet. On Wednesday, Rust was arrested and charged in Alexandria, VA. federal court for making the threat online.

Police were able to link Rust to the post by tracking a computer and cell phone registered in his name through the Panera wireless network he accessed the internet through and a purchase he made at the same restaurant that same day.

According to an affidavit, Rust told an associate through text message, “I’m angry at everyone and that’s just fueling the existing unresolved anger I have towards people which will burst. I planned how to take out that anger years ago and I’ve been sitting on that plan ever since.” Yikes, bro.

If convicted, Rust faces a maximum of five years in prison.
