Toronto-based songbird TiK▲ is back with another soulful R&B jam. Directed by 18-year-old Ghanian filmmaker Ayisha Gariba and featuring up and coming Toronto production duo HMLT, “All Day, All Night” takes on the perspective of a black girl “struggling to balance her life after the death of her father slain by the hands of the police.’ In spite of the somber narrative, TiK▲ somehow conjures an atmosphere of comfort and compassion that envelops listeners in a soothing warm blanket. Perhaps a message that, even through unimaginable pain, everything will be alright.
“I wanted to touch on the fact that no matter what is happening within our world, Black Womxn do not get the permission to heal before enduring triggering + racialized experiences that fuel ongoing trauma,” says TiK▲.” I hope this song inspires the Indigos of the world to continue creating, fighting, speaking, and loving one another. I’m free. We’re free. #BlackLivesMatter. Always.”
