mahershala ali confirmed to play in ‘true detective’ season 3

‘True Detective’ may have just found its saving grace in Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali who has officially landed the season 3 lead role. Written by showrunner and creator Nic Pizzolatto and co-directed with Jeremy Saulnier, the third season of the inconsistent but, at times, brilliant series is being described as a “macabre crime” set in the Ozark that will follow Ali’s Wayne Hays, a Northwest Arkansas police detective. Back to the show’s Southern Gothic rural roots “and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.” Hell. Yes.
