lakeith stanfield wants to play the joker in upcoming martin scorsese movie
‘Death Note’ and ‘Atlanta’ actor Lakeith Stanfield is throwing his hat in the race for the titular role in Martin Scorsese’s The Joker origin film and fingers crossed for him because that would be freakin’ bad ass.
Scorsese I’d like to play the Joker

Described as yet another Batman Universe spinoff saga, Warner Bros and DC are said to be in the earliest stages of production on the Joker’s origins story which will be co-written by The Hangover’s Todd Phillips and 8-Mile’s Scott Silver. Phillips is also slated to direct the film with Martin Scorsese as his co-producer. The film itself will be the first one released under a currently unnamed new banner that will be a platform for different iterations of iconic DC characters played by new actors, separate from the DC Extended Universe films.
This refreshing approach to the hyper-saturated comic book film genre could definitely be a powerful space for embracing blind casting and act as an example to the unrealistically white worlds we see on the big screen now.
