digital artist celebrates black women in gorgeous illustrations

After taking an art history course and seeing a lack of women of color in the textbook, Instagram artist @4everestherr began drawing Black women only. “The illustrations in the book were gorgeous,” she writes in an post, “(so) it really inspired me to start creating the same type of gorgeous artwork using women of colour as my muse.”

And with the array of vibrant illustrations in her portfolio, the artist is well on her way to making it into her own textbook. Imagining Black women as cyborgs, angels, or just basking in the elegance of their regular-ness, the artist’s work is a class on Black beauty in-and-of itself.
