“chewing gum” actress michaela coel’s modern-day musical seeks audience at cannes
BAFTA-winning actress/‘Chewing Gum’ star/playwright Michaela Coel’s upcoming film “Been So Long” is headed to Cannes. A modern-day musical that follows a dedicated single mother (Coel) in London, who, on an unusual night, meets a handsome, but “troubled” stranger, played by Arinzé Kene. Directed by BAFTA-winning director Tinge Krishnan, the feature film is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed play by Che Walker and actor Arthur Darvill, which premiered at The Old Vic.
“Been So Long” is produced by Nadine Marsh-Edwards and Amanda Jenks for Greenacre and executive produced by Lizzie Francke and Eva Yates of the BFI and Film4. The film is set to screen in Cannes for the international film-buying community, via London-based international sales company Film Constellation.
