black farmer: “white women in yoga pants with ‘i’m with her’ stickers” are the ones calling the police on me
In the age of Donald Trump, we hear a lot about overt displays of racism. But though the effects are just as harmful, rarely are white liberals and progressives called out for their shit. Chris Newman, the owner of Sylvanaqua Farms in Albemarle County, Va., just put these experiences in contrast to highlight just that, explaining that it’s white “progressive” women who provide the biggest dangers of farming while Black:
In the viral Facebook post, Newman posted an image of Confedrate flag waving white supremacists gathered at Charlottesville, Va.’s Lee Park to protest the City Council’s vote to remove a statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee. Recently, another torch wielding mob was led by White supremacist Richard Spencer in a similar protest, shouting Nazi rallying cries and bringing to mind imagery of a Ku Klux Klan rally.
But Newman says “It isn’t Richard Spencer calling the cops on me for farming while Black. It’s nervous White women in yoga pants with “I’m with Her” and “Coexist” stickers on their German SUVs […] Truth is, as a Black dude, I’m far less bothered by the flag wavers in this picture than this town’s progressives assuming its race problem has nothing to do with them.”
Kudos to him for telling it like it is! A racist is a racist is a racist, whether Democrat or Republican.
