star wars’ actor john boyega books lead in pacific rim sequel as idris elba’s son

John Boyega stole our hearts as Finn in Star Wars: Episode VIII and it looks like the actor is making a bid for household name in the years to come. As if playing Idris Elba’s son in the new Pacific Rim sequel wasn’t enough, he’ll also be co-producing the film as well. Directed by Steven S. Deknight, Pacific Rim: Uprising has begun filming and will likely be in theaters in February of 2018. The franchise was created by Guillermo del Toro who said of John’s casting: “I am very proud and happy to welcome John into a fantastic sandbox. The ‘Pacific Rim’ universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multi-layered world. ‘The World saving the world’ was our goal and I couldn’t think of a better man for the job.” Peep some of the photos from the set and get hype to see the one & only John Boyega on the big screen coming soon!
