janelle monae on kim burrell’s homophobia: “stop tearing down of our shared humanity”
It seems that apparently some folks forgot to leave behind their hatred, bigotry, and homophobia in 2016. Kim Burrell, pastor and prominent gospel singer, went on a bigoted tirade during a sermon last week, condemning the LGBTQ community with the false vindication of religion. Twitter was set aflame with rebukes of her rhetoric and moreover, questioned her comments even more critically because of her recent involvement with Frank Ocean’s latest album Blonde, as Frank is openly queer. Several celebrities spoke out against Burrell’s words, with Janelle Monae’s being particularly eloquent. See her response below & via Instagram:
