folk soul singer-songwriter valerie june announces new album ‘the order of time’ with contributions from norah jones

January 6, 2017

The sweet sounds of Southern songbird Valerie June are sure to knock you off your feet. The Tennessee-bred singer-songwrite is set to release her highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘The Order of Time’ on March 10th 2017 on Concord Records/Caroline Music, and boy are we excited for this project. Melding the sensuality of electric blues, the down-home vibes of folk, and everlasting soul into a sound unlike anyone else, June’s talents have landed her opportunities to wow crowds on Later…with Jools Holland, touring with artists like Norah Jones and Jake Bugg, and even on a bill to support The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park. ‘The Order of Time’ is her follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed ‘Pushin’ Against A Stone’ is “a rumination on love, family, struggle and the passing of time,” produced by Matt Marinelli (Bad Brains) with twelve original songs all written by June. Musically, Valerie June has refined and expanded her sound, elevating to a space of artful, self-assured restraint and overall cohesion. While we’re waiting on the full release, enjoy the lyric video for her standout “Astral Plane” below.
