why i decided to dedicate my life to those going through depression and suicidal thoughts

My name is Jasmin Pierre. I have been an “Afro Punk” contributor for the majority of 2016. I am a self help book author, who writes about mental health, the majority of the time about depression, and suicide. Being a suicide survivor and currently in recovery from major depressive disorder, I understand the importance of awareness, and support, because depression is such a stigmatized illness.

Right now I am currently working on launching a business called “Keep Fighting Life Coaching”, it will be dedicated to helping those battling depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. A “Depression Life Coach” can be an added addition, to someone who has already been diagnosed with depression and is currently seeking treatment. The mental health field SERIOUSLY needs more resources.

By the year 2030 depression is expected to be the second highest medical disability, right behind HIV, and AIDs.
