the new trailer for comedian/writer/director jordan peele’s interracial horror flick ‘get out’ is an unnerving take on black fear in all white space

October 5, 2016

Okay, so last night the first trailer for actor/comedian/writer/director Jordan Peele’s ‘satirical’ horror film ‘Get Out’ dropped and, boy, is it wild. Lead by Brit Daniel Kaluuya (“Sicario”, “Black Mirror”) and Allison Williams (“Girls”), ‘Get Out’ is an unnerving and pretty ingenious take on ‘Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner’ that poses a conversation about the legitimate fears black people have in all white spaces.

And the result is jarring.

The terrifying trailer carefully walks the finest of lines between comedy and horror, subtly throwing out campy tropes that are immediately off-set by a sense of dread, the historical context of black oppression in White America, and the unshakable power of White People and White communities to terrorize black bodies. Shit gets, surprisingly real.

‘Get Out’ doesn’t come out until February (naturally) 2017, but for sure check out the trailer, down below.
