brazilian creatives noemia oliveira and orlando caldeira race-bend some of the most iconic figures in pop culture for projeto identidade

Projeto Identidade is one of my favorite photographic projects in a long time. Created by Brazilian creatives Noemia Oliveira and Orlando Caldeira,, Projeto Identidade is an on-going representational project with a mission to capture and depict black men and women as some of the most iconic figures in pop culture—figures that are basically all white. The project feautres reenactments of superheroes and villains, literary and art history characters, like Harry Potter and the Mona Lisa, Disney princesses to Kill Bill’s The Bride.

The production quality it took to create these images is truly impressive and immersive to the viewer. Can’t wait to see more from this project. Check out my favorites, below.
