Jesse Boykins III has finally released his long-awaited mixtape ‘BARTHOLOMEW’ and the result is a complete concoction of talent and purpose. A soothing, R&B vibe, with a special hint of electronica, creates a genre of his own. Unrestricted by labels, each track defines itself- featuring collaborations with talents including (but not nearly limited to): Isaiah Rashad, Willow Smith, Syd Tha Kyd, and Mick Jenkins. The 17-track-long project speaks to every state of mind; a song connecting to every time, place, and person. As Boykins III plays with countless musical variations- from Afro-beat, to pop, to gospel-infused, multilayered orchestrations- the mixtape expands, giving ‘BARTHOLOMEW’ the spaciousness to leave a true mark. An impressive return to the spotlight-after his 2014 release Love Apparatus– ‘BARTHOLOMEW’ is a deep, enriching listening experience; check it out below.
