rad creative of the day: photographer quique rivera’s new series ’90’s summer daze’ brings back the hip hop tom boy we all wish we were

July 11, 2016

In Quique Rivera’s latest photography series, viewers are taken back in time- with a modern twist. Titled: ’90’s Summer Daze’, the subtly dynamic series pays homage to the era of intentional laxity, while simultaneously adding a ‘too cool for school’ vibe with its femininely suggestive interpretation of  a Tomboy. Rivera’s utilization of the models’ powerful Afro’s and beautiful brown skin, adds another layer of cultural pride, serving as an underline to the already intriguing visuals. A youthful, nostalgic project, viewers are given an excitingly sentimental glimpse at adolescence- wishing they were in the subjects’ shoes. Check out more of ’90’s Summer Daze’ below.
