VIDEO PREMIERE: Experimental soul singer Ava Raiin searches for spirituality in trippy new music video ‘Eagle Eye’

May 16, 2016

Okay, whoa. The newest visual and single, ‘Eagle Eye’ from experimental soul singer Ava Raiin is a trippy kaleidoscope of imagery and musical genres that transform as soon as you think you’ve figured them out. The song itself blends dub, soul, electronic ambience, and even folk and turns into a sumptuous and surreal soundscape. “‘Eagle Eye’ came from a conversation I had with God one day, during a time of personal struggle,” Ava tells AFROPUNK. “I was in a downward spiral and needed to make some changes, finally at my wits end and didn’t know what else to do. I was basically asking if He sees me at all, if so to show himself and guide me out of the mess I was in. All while keeping a smile on my face so no one around knew what was really going on.” The spiritual elements of the single and video are not lost in translation, it’s precisely that quality that is embodied in the surrealistic visual world that brings the single to life.
