new music: oakland-based rock-n-soul/blues artist fantastic negrito teases forthcoming debut lp with exuberant single ‘hump thru the winter’

May 16, 2016

Check out new track ‘Hump Thru the Winter’ by eclectic soul musician Fantastic Negrito. Fantastic Negrito, aka singer/songwriter Xavier Dphrepaulezz, produces an intense re-imagining of classic soul music that’s both exuberant and fresh. In this newest release, Fantastic Negrito brings authentic heat that really only reminds you of the greatest rock-n-soul artists of the mid-20th century. Even though the incredible music is enough on its own, Dphrepaulezz uses his songs to tackle issues of socioeconomic inequality, race, and class, which he regularly sees in his East Bay Area neighborhood. “People are working harder than they ever have, yet earning less than they ever have. The state of America—everybody blows when they are down on their knees,” he says. ‘Hump Thru the Winter’ is the latest release from Fantastic Negrito much anticipated debut album ‘The Last Days Of Oakland, out June 2 on Blackball Universe.
