Check out the narrative-shifting docu-series “My Africa Is: Alternative Nairobi”. The series follows three ambitious, young Nairobians as they work to resolve Kenya’s high unemployment and pursue alternative & creative careers. The on-going web series helps to change the extremely limited narrative around the African continent by underscoring the surprising innovations of the unexpected sides of Africa.

“My Africa Is”, which started as an independently funded web series in 2012, makes the move to TV after executive producer Nosarieme Garrick was named one of four winners at the National Black Programming Consortium’s NBPC 360 competition in 2015, where she was award $100,000 to produce the series’ pilot for television.

“My Africa Is” first aired in the State this past Monday on WORLD Channel as part of the season finale of “AfroPop: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange”. Be on the lookout for local re-airing times.
