feature: chicago’s woman made gallery exhibits artist/curator janice bond’s solo exhibition ‘beyond the binary’
Woman Made Gallery in Chicago is hosting artist and curator Janice Bond’s solo exhibition ‘Beyond the Binary’. The show is an ongoing multimedia exhibition that aims to create a space for women and femmes to explore the relationship between the wide spectrum of womanhood and nature. “It’s imperative for us as women, particularly women of color to take the lead in documenting each other across mediums and platforms. Each story, curve, laugh line, every coil and scar, is a part of both the anatomical and socioeconomic landscape we navigate daily whether we are aware of it or not. …The same ties that in many instances have pulled us apart, bound us, kept us silent, can also strengthen us,” says Bond.
Down below, check out a sampling of Janice’s exhibition pieces. In the Chicago Area? ‘Beyond the Binary’ will be on view until Feb. 25.
