feature: designer/businesswoman jennifer nnamani carves out niche in eco-friendly fashion

January 7, 2016

Fashion designer and business owner, Jennifer Nnamani makes high fashion clothing out of recycled materials. Her company, Beau Monde Society is an eco-friendly, socially-conscious brand with a mission to “approach unique projects by focusing on lifestyle branding while fusing fashion, creativity, and functional ideas to sustain brand awareness and ethical responsibility.” Nnamani sources her recovered materials from a swath of unlikely places, including a furniture store in SOHO, a neighborhood bar, and a hardware store.

Growing up in Nigeria, Nnamani’s father worked as a very successful fashion designer in the 80s and 90s. Now, as a New York City designer, Nnamani continues to represent that family tradition. “Presently, I am working on a signature collection that will be launched this summer. Each piece was made in Nigeria.” Read more about Nnamani and BMS in her interview with ELLE. Check out some of her wears below.
