afropunk premiere: ephemerals calls out western passivity in sharp new video ‘everyday killers’

January 21, 2016

Funk/soul/jazz band Ephemerals call out westerner’s passive support for institutional and structural oppression, violence, and abuse faced by, seemingly, far away people. Which we subsequently pretend not to notice and refuse to make any conscious effort to change; let alone acknowledge our direct contributions to their plight. You see the bodies of refugees wash up on shorelines? Change the channel. Another bombing in a MENA (Middle East/North Africa) town? “Business as usual.” No need to question who’s getting ripped off, when you stumble across a clothing sale, so long as you’re get a “deal”, right? Why? “Because we’re everyday killers.” Watch and share the thought-provoking video down below.
