feature: mixed martial artist rampage jackson gets the comic book treatment with new graphic novel

December 8, 2015

Check out the new release from Lion Forge Comics, featuring mixed martial artist Rampage Jackson as its leading man. The all new graphic novel is entitled ‘Rampage Jackson: Street Soldier‘, and has the the former UFC Light Middleweight Champion taking on giant monsters and super villains. He says, “The action in this book is more than just punching people, although it’s got plenty of that, don’t worry.” Here at AFROPUNK, we’re not a big fan of the outdated “macho who wants to beat everyone up” type of vibe. The comic book’s rep (Chandra McQueen) responded to that statement with the following: “It’s all about the nostalgia of comics. Historically, comics provided one of the first/only platforms of African American heroes.” She adds, “Not only are we seeing the trend of comic heroes emerging on TV and the big screen, we also have the benefit of enjoying them on print and digital platforms. With Quinton RAMPAGE Jackson, fans can expect the unexpected! Rampage Jackson Street Soldier is going to be a wild, action pack adventure series that will be a throwback to old school style comics. Rampage travels the world while using his powers to help everyday people in need. The concept is similar to shows like Kung Fu, A-Team, and Knight Rider, but with a super heroic twist. Rampage’s book is a fun, bombastic superhero adventure. Plus, Quinton RAMPAGE Jackson has a huge following as a martial artist, former professional wrestler (UFC/MMA) and actor (The A-Team).” Explore below.
