Check out R.L. Houser’s haunting painting, ‘Baby Capitalism Suckling Mother Africa’. The artist tells us. “This is an original oil painting that I created in 2014. The woman’s image was inspired from an actual photo of a slave. The painting itself depicts the capitalization of how white people used black women, men and children to build this country on free labor, and still treated them as the “lesser”. I created this painting as an intellectual piece, hoping the viewer would reflect, and gain an understanding of why things are the way they are today, and therefore make an effort to help in changing the ideology of our present society.” See the thought-provoking art below, plus an accompanying video. Prints are available here.
