video premiere: the illustrative visual for soul woman natasha alexander’s anthemic track, ‘shades’ ​

Today we’re premiering the new video from New York Soul Woman Natasha Alexander – ‘Shades’ (directed by filmmaker Aisha Jabour, with illustrations from graphic artist Illyana Alexander). In regards to the anthemic track, Natasha Alexander tells us: “This song is an unintentional anthem about human vitality, the continuance of life present in all living things. Not intending for it to be an anthem, initially it was written to just talk about all the things I was dealing with at the time. Written as a “free write” or “Stream of Consciousness” my thoughts and conscious reactions to events, perceived as a continuous flow that ultimately turned itself into a song.” Watch the video below.
