new music: magic crystals, flowers and a general hippie vibe – iris gold releases uplifting slow jam, ‘color trip’

September 29, 2015

Listen to the soulful new single from Iris Gold, ‘Color Trip’ – the follow up track to the UK singer-songwriter’s debut release, ‘Goldmine‘. Her camp tells us: “The lyrics about incense, magic crystals, flowers and general hippie vibe of the song correspond with her unique backstory: Iris grew up in the famous Freetown Christiana commune in Copenhagen surrounded by a free-thinking, anything-goes environment and the music of 60’s and 70’s psychedelia and hippy counter-culture. Due to the insular environment, she came to discover more contemporary music only in her late teens, getting into hip hop through the likes of Pete Rock, Beastie Boys and De La Soul. She moved to London where she started writing songs which fused beat driven loops with lyrics rooted in her background in storytelling and west coast pop influences.” Listen below, and catch Iris Gold on stage at the Lexington in London on 30th September (CLICK HERE for more info).
