video premiere: black violin celebrates freedom and #blacklivesmatter in ‘stereotypes’

August 31, 2015

Violin and viola duo Black Violin challenges stereotypes in the video for the lead single from their upcoming album, ‘Stereotypes’. Directed by Danny Hastings, the visuals are a tribute to the #BlackLivesMatter movement and to people who dare to be free. Band member Wil Baptiste tells us: “All my life I’ve been black and I’ve had to live with the reality of who I am versus who I’m perceived to be. As a black Viola player, it’s my duty to defy every preconceived notion.”
The upcoming album ‘Stereotypes’ (out September 18) features Black Thought from The Roots, Robert Glasper, Kandace Springs , Pharoahe Monch and more.
