feature: the ‘power violence’ sound of punk trio fat stupid ugly people

August 28, 2015

Rock out to the latest music from New Orleans punk rockers Fat Stupid Ugly People. Consisting of Hollise Murphy (vocals), John Angus Schexnayder (guitar), and Chris Prince (drums), the group are recognised for their ‘Power Violence’ sound; and for bringing a comedic edge to the aggressive hardcore genre. Murphy states, “What we’re really trying to go for is a sound, a delivery and a presentation that is often imitated and never duplicated. I say that because of our structure and our willingness to stay fresh and against the grain. It allows us to present ourselves at a more intriguing level to a listener of styles such as hardcore.”. And when it comes to that provocative name, Murphy says: It’s more of a shock value sort of thing. We wanted to see how far we could push the envelope. We just wanted to express ourselves in a unique manner.” Explore below.
