According to a new Rolling Stone interview, D’Angelo has some more music on the way. In the interview, the singer has revealed that he was pushed to release his ‘Black Messiah‘ LP as a response to events in Ferguson – following the fatal shooting of unarmed Mike Brown by white office Darren Wilson – and that in the rush he only released a part of the album he had envisioned. D’angelo says, “I was like, ‘Man, I gotta fucking contribute. I gotta participate.” Adding, “It was time. Everyone was in the streets, so we sat down with the team and did some soul-searching and decided to put it out. But if it were left entirely up to me, it wouldn’t have come out. I had to get out of my head. Because there were so many songs that I wanted people to hear.” The singer has now returned to the studio, working with leftover tracks from the ‘Black messiah’ sessions, and it looks likely that a follow up is coming soon.
