afropunk premiere: hip-hop soulstress harleighblu’s new video – ‘mmm’ (feat. dr. zygote)

May 29, 2015

Today we’re premiering the visual for Hip-Hop soulstress Harleighblu’s new single, ‘Mmm’ (feat. Dr. Zygote). The track is the lead single from the British singer-songwriter’s new EP, ‘Futurespective’, and is described by her camp as a “late night tale of lost shoes, dignity and more, over a seedily slinky bassline and synth fuzz”. Harleighblu tells us, “My life has changed and I feel like my new songs have come from a more honest and (sometimes) frank place. My EP is named ‘Futurespective’ because of this, because I’ve a different outlook on life now”. She adds, “‘Mmm’ is pretty much most weekends for twenty-something Brits, haha. ‘Mmm’ is the reckless side of growing up, doing what you want, stumbling through the consequences but also loving every moment of it. It’s kind of what I’m going through right now, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Check out the video below, directed by Matthew Daunt and Mark Daunt, and download ‘Futurespective’ here.
