afropunk premiere: “paradigm”, new single from experimental indie pop band ft. hood #soundcheck
Today we’re premiering the latest collaboration between purveyor of glitchy beats Timmie Rook and singer/songwriter Chantell Moody. “Paradigm” builds from an aggressive distorted bass drum and synth vocal line before erupting into the soft hum of acoustic guitar and Chantell Moody’s delicate vocal. Pushing her voice to it’s stratospheric heights, she comes off a bit like a latter day Neneh Cherry, while Rook’s beats collapse and collide around her. The song melts and swirls before settling down into a delicate coda that builds again into a cacophony of electric, electronic, and organic elements.
