afropunk premiere: angela ricci’s new single, ‘isn’t it funny (la vita é bella)’
Today we’re premiering the new single from London based singer Angela Ricci, ‘Isn’t It Funny (La Vita é Bella)’. Originally from Italy and Congo, this ‘bluesy-pop’ singer has a rich musical history – previously touring as a backing vocalist for the likes of Kelis and Rita Ora; and with its scat singing, whistle-blowing, and storytelling, this new single offers a great introduction to her sound. She tells AFROPUNK: “The lyrics for this song were inspired from my experience that anyone can see a star when it’s shining, but it takes a careful observer to notice the star that is forming. By that I mean, anyone can support you when you’re out for all to see, but it’s so hard to find people that understand and cheer you on when you don’t have the benefit of a spotlight.” Listen below!
