afropunk premiere: divinity roxx’s new video for call to action single, ‘we are’

February 16, 2015

Today we’re premiering the new video from Divinity Roxx, for her anthemic single “We Are”. The lyric video (a montage of clips showing collective action and planned responses) was created by a young activist called 3rain and is the perfect fit for a song calling us to make a difference to our world – inspired by “the difficult times we live in”, says Roxx. Regarding its lyrical content, the Atlanta based musician states: “When I was in college I studied with the late June Jordan in her ‘Poetry for The People’ course taught at UC Berkeley. She would often ask us if we were ever given two minutes to say anything to the world what it would be. Well, for me I believe this song is it.” Check it out, below!
