afropunk premiere: check the surreal visuals to abdu ali’s “i, exist” #soundcheck

February 2, 2015

Abdu Ali’s Already EP is a head expanding boundary pushing ode to Baltimore Club. With pieces of his noise aesthetic and destructive delivery, his latest single “I, Exist” stands out as the highlight of the EP. Created in collaboration with Baltimore animation and projection artist Johnny Rogers, the visuals to “I, Exist” are something like waking up trapped inside a DOS machine circa 1992. 16 bit colors and line drawings surround Abdu Ali as he floats in a bubble through a wasteland of pixels and pyramids. The video will have you seriously contemplating the nature of your own existence.

Abdu Ali is releasing a best of collection on cassette, which other than etched directly onto your eardrum with a grammophone stylus seams like the best way to experience his future-throwback thing.
