feature: first trailer for sundance film ‘dope’, starring zoë kravitz and a$ap rocky
Check out the trailer for Rick Famuyiwa’s feature film, ‘Dope’ – premiering at Sundance this week. The coming of age story, inspired by the director’s own years growing up in Inglewood California, follows three best friends (Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Shameik Moore) who are also in their own hip hop-punk band. Famuyiwa -most noted for directing the 90s classic, ‘The Wood’ – has stated: “There’s an optimism about these kids, and they’re connected to the world by social media and modern technology that a kid like me growing up in Inglewood 20 years ago didn’t have”. He adds, “I’m excited for the Sundance crowd to see this movie. On the surface it might seem familiar, but I think people will be surprised by what this film is.” Story aside, what seems to have most people excited about ‘Dope’ is that the films stars Zoë Kravitz, A$AP Rocky, plus music penned by Pharrell Williams.
