feature: seinabo sey’s intoxicating ‘younger’

April 9, 2014

Stockholm native singer Seinabo Sey’s single “Younger” has been doing the rounds, swallowing up hundreds of thousands of streams and views in its wake, and rightly so. Whether you’re into chilled, melodic vocals or booming, intoxicating pulses – this song’ll do it for you. “Younger” is almost a song of two acts as it begins with Seinabo’s stark, soulful tones with a slightly eerie sounding organ. Seinabo Sey’s missive goads us all to seize the day and live out our dreams. The time is now. She sings: “There’s a way to be yourself / There’s a way to catch your dreams without falling asleep / You might as well get it while you can babe/ ‘Cause you know you ain’t getting any younger…”

It is after these profound words that Swedish producer Magnus Lidehäll (also known as Filthy) takes charge with a drilling drum lead and dramatic strings. The accompanying video is fitting for the spring. Plenty of sunlight and pensive expressions as the small group of friends decorate each other’s hair with daisies.

The visual totes the overall message of struggling through hardships to prevail… but prevail you shall. “Younger” won’t leave you feeling down in the dumps. Seinabo Sey wants to refresh our souls so that we may all live to rejoice another day.
