feature: uk pop rocker jetta’s making major moves

March 5, 2014

I’m loving UK artist Jetta. The Liverpudlian beauty has set tongue wagging on both sides of the pond after the release of her single “Feels Like Coming Home”. The singer/songwriter has been in the industry for a minute now, previously serving as a backup vocalist for Goodie Mob’s Cee Lo and fellow UK artist Paloma Faith. Jetta quotes her number one musical influence as being Annie Lennox, and I think the influence translates well through her music and performance style.

Tearjerker “Feels Like Coming Home” initially caught people’s attention after being featured in Google’s Zeitgeist commercial.
But don’t be fooled by this brooding, emotional track. Jetta’s visuals for “Start A Riot” show a punkier, rockier edge of the musician demonstrating that she is by no means, one dimensional. Gone is the vulnerable looking musician broody and hunched over her piano. In this video, Jetta dons her black leather jacket (spikes and all) accompanied with shadowy makeup and platform shoes. I love it. It packs a punch.

The UK beauty (signed to Republic Records) is currently on a promo tour in the US. For fans of Jetta, you’ll be pleased to hear that she will be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday March 6th. Jetta will also be performing at SXSW March 10th at the Spotify House so be sure to stop through if you’re in Austin.
