stream/download: amber mimz is living ‘the life of riley’

January 21, 2014

D.C native Amber Mimz offers her complete self in the medium of her album, The Life Of Riley. I say that not only because of the emotional outpouring of Amber’s soul on the project, but also because of the fact that everything on The Life Of Riley has been crafted by Amber. From writing the songs, to singing them and even producing (and co-producing) the dreamy beats, thus ensuring that her message is being conveyed accurately.

The Life Of Riley contains 8 full length tracks and as her first full length project, I have to say that it’s a triumph.
Tunes like “Milk & Honey” for me, is the standout track of the album. It has all of the warm breeze of summer (quite possibly because the album was recorded in California). In fact, the entire album is a complete contrast to the harsh winter bitterness the majority of us have been forced to endure.

The moody, contemplative keys of “Bookstore” are the perfect backdrop of her coming of age journey. The tale of lessons learns from her youth and how they have skewed her outlook on love. A proverbial anecdote.
Two thumbs up for this refreshing offering which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a pep in your step.
