free download: bump after the smoke’s mixtape ‘microwaves’

January 6, 2014

Florida natives After The Smoke have released the 14-track mixtape, Microwaves. The band is the vision of Rob Coin (aka Whuzi), a notable designer slash emcee. Other participants include Glas and Day G. Rob also triples up as a formidable director so of course, the project was preceded by a couple of visually electric videos to further amplify the anticipation. Take “Come And Leave” for example. It’s bloodthirsty and vividly vampiric images were a stark warning to their viewers that what is to come would be something to behold.

For lovers of the ever evolving trip hop genre, there is much to gratify your palate here. Microwaves manages to remain creatively fluid without pushing too far outside the realms of hip hop. After The Smoke infuse their sound with funk and soul and gently dust it with dark and sometimes, moderately macabre shades.

The very well received single “OIAM” is also on here. The video has amassed well over 1.5 million views but it’s not surprising… Rob Coin sure knows how to jolt the senses. A thrilling listen with several more epic vids to come.
