“two black computer programmers make millions with a programming school in chicago”

November 15, 2013

According to CB Insights, less than 1 percent of tech start-ups are founded by African-Americans. Tech entrepreneurs, Mike McGee and Neal Sales-Griffin are working to change that with their coding school in Chicago, The Starter League.  McGee and Sales-Griffin are pulling in millions of dollars in revenue from teaching people how to become programmers. From mentoring students at Chicago Tech Academy to introducing coding to 16 Chicago Public Schools teachers, these guys are paving the way for the next generation of tech savvy entrepreneurs.

At AFROPUNK, we strive to be the number one source for alternative Black culture. Moving into the new year, we will be rebuilding our platform to support the multiple interests and ideas that matter to our community. If you’re a badass coder that’s not afraid to destroy and rebuild a few HTMLs, let us know in the comments. We would love to see what you got!
